Common Questions

Common Questions About Smart Homes in Singapore

Plain answers to the things Singapore homeowners ask us most โ€” before they decide to go ahead.

Cost

How much does a smart home setup cost in Singapore?

+

We don't publish fixed prices because every home is genuinely different โ€” flat type, number of rooms, devices, and automation complexity all affect the final number. Get in touch and we'll put together a fully itemised quote based on your specific home.

Can I start small and expand later?

+

Yes. The system is built on open standards specifically so it stays expandable. You can start with a single room or a few automations and add more devices or scenes at any time without starting over.

Do you offer ongoing support after installation?

+

Yes. We stay available after handover for questions, adjustments, and changes as your home evolves. Ask us about support options when we prepare your quote.

Privacy

Does my smart home send data to the cloud?

+

No. Everything runs locally via Home Assistant inside your home. Your usage patterns, schedules, and device states never leave your network unless you explicitly enable remote access.

Do I need an internet connection for my smart home to work?

+

No. Automations, schedules, and device control all work without internet. An internet connection is only needed if you want remote access from outside your home, and even then it is optional and encrypted.

What happens if my internet goes down?

+

Nothing changes. Your automations keep running, your devices keep responding, and your schedules stay active. The system is designed to operate independently of any external connection.

Compatibility

Will my existing smart devices work with your system?

+

Most do. We support Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and many brand-specific local integrations including Philips Hue, Aqara, Sonoff, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, and more. We assess compatibility during the discovery meeting before recommending anything.

Do I have to use a specific brand of devices?

+

No. That is the point of building on open standards. You can mix devices from different brands, switch brands in the future, or add new devices without being tied to any single ecosystem.

Will it work with my aircon?

+

In most cases yes. We integrate directly with many aircon brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi, and Panasonic via local API or IR control โ€” no cloud account required.

HDB

Does this work in HDB flats?

+

Yes. Most of our installs are HDB โ€” 3-room, 4-room, and 5-room flats across Singapore. We work within HDB electrical guidelines and coordinate with your ID or contractor during renovation.

Are there HDB rules I need to know about?

+

HDB has guidelines around electrical work and wiring modifications. We are familiar with these constraints and design every installation to comply. We will flag anything relevant during the discovery and design phase.

Can I install smart home devices in a resale flat?

+

Yes. Resale installs are straightforward โ€” we assess the existing wiring, recommend the right devices for your layout, and install everything cleanly. No major renovation required for most setups.

Home Assistant

What is Home Assistant?

+

Home Assistant is open-source smart home software that runs on dedicated hardware inside your home. It connects and controls all your smart devices locally โ€” no cloud required. We install, configure, and manage it so you never have to touch the technical side.

Will my smart home still work if Home Assistant goes offline?

+

Basic automations and schedules continue running at the device level. The app interface requires Home Assistant to be reachable, but we size and configure the hardware to make downtime extremely rare.

Do I need technical knowledge to use it day to day?

+

No. Once installed and configured, day-to-day use is a simple app on your phone. Most clients stop thinking about the system entirely after the first week โ€” the automations just run.
